What is in Mama Lotion?

MaMa Lotion is a carefully formulated lotion that combines two potent yet gentle alpha hydroxyl acids. Mandelic Acid, derived from bitter almonds, and Malic Acid, derived from apples, are combined with marine-derived anti-inflammatory agents in this unique formulation designed to rapidly fade red and brown acne scaring and melasma. Additionally, MaMa Lotion helps reduce the appearance of pitted acne scars by stimulating collagen and elastin production in the skin. This helps “plump-up” the skin under the pit reducing the depth and appearance of the scar.

Why mandelic acid for the treatment of melasma?

AHAs in the right concentration have already been proven to help brighten skin by chemically peeling the dead cells of the skin. But chemical peels can be harsh on the skin, especially if in high concentrations. Mama Lotion has a concentration of 10% mandelic acid and 10% malic acid at a pH of 2.5%. For some this may seem a lot, but mandelic and malic acids are the most gentle of all the AHAs. Because they have larger molecules, mandelic and malic acid are less irritating than glycolic acid. The only down side to AHAs is that it increases photosensitivity, thus when using Mama Lotion melasma treatment you should always apply sunscreen regularly.
