Physical Description:
An ultramarine-blue, translucent, creamy gel. Contains a trio of sebum-controlling ingredients (iris extract, zinc and vitamin A) in a moisture-surging formulation designed to immediately liquefy upon skin contact. Imparts instant, refreshing moisture to dehydrated, troubled, acne prone skin.

UNDERSTANDING ACNE?It is estimated up to 80% of adolescents, at some point, suffer from mild to severe acne. Even later in life adults may still be subject to acne breakouts. Acne affects the hair follicle where the sebaceous gland deposits its waxy secretions. These secretions are stimulated by hormones, particularly androgens. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) influenced by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, increases both the size of the sebaceous glands and their sebum production. The duct gradually fills with sebum and dead skin cells until it is completely blocked. Comedos?blackheads and whiteheads?are then formed. Bacteria at the bottom of the duct take advantage of the anaerobic conditions created and proliferate. They break down the accumulated sebum, freeing irritating fatty acids which then alter the wall of the duct and trigger an inflammatory process. The comedos become inflamed papules, resulting in redness and irritation. The Iris Root Extract incorporated into Cellex-C?s formulation is purchased from a leading French phytochemical company and is of the highest quality. Their specific extraction process enables them to extract the active part of the rhyzomes, particularly the skin benefitting lycosides and rutosides.
• Zinc. Shown to be effective in the treatment of acne as it is an efficient seboregulator and has a synergistic effect with vitamin A to accelerate wound healing.
• Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate). Vitamin A is recommended for oily skin as it inhibits the synthesis of comedos inducing skin lipids.
• Peppermint. This pungent herb contains powerful antiseptic agents and menthol which contribute to the pleasant cooling effect when applied to irritated skin.
